Questions about Ayurveda and its approach
What is Ayurveda, often referred to as “traditional complementary medicine”?
Ayurveda (“knowledge of life”), often referred to as traditional Indian medicine or complementary Indian medicine, aims to maintain balance between body and mind through personalised practices adapted to each individual.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recognises the importance of traditional medicine systems, including Ayurveda, in supporting overall health. According to its definition, Ayurveda is a millennia-old traditional system originating in South Asia. It takes into account all dimensions of health: physical, psychological, spiritual and social.
In practice, Ayurveda considers the body and mind as a whole. It seeks to understand and address the root causes of imbalance rather than focusing solely on symptoms. To do so, it draws on traditional herbs, nutrition, lifestyle practices, body therapies, and other traditional methods.
This approach considers not only physical condition, but also personal experience, habits, and living environment — all of which may contribute to both the problem and the solution.
Ayurveda is not part of conventional medicine, is not officially recognised in France, and does not replace medical advice or prescriptions from your doctor.
To learn more, read the blog article What is Ayurveda? or visit the French Ayurveda Federation website.
Is it compatible with medical treatment?
Yes — Ayurveda is a complementary approach and can be integrated alongside existing medical care.
It does not replace diagnosis or treatment prescribed by your doctor. Medical follow-up should always be maintained as advised. Ayurveda operates on another level: supporting your health.
In practice, it aims to support:
- regulation of the nervous system
- digestion and energy
- the capacity to recover from stress
It uses tools such as diet, lifestyle, traditional herbs, and bodywork.
Even in the presence of chronic conditions or ongoing treatment, the goal is not to “treat disease” but to strengthen your physical and emotional resources, improving quality of life.
Special care is always taken to consider your history, treatments, and sensitivities, ensuring that recommendations are safe and appropriate.
How can Ayurveda help prevent or manage burnout?
Burnout is a form of global exhaustion.
The Ayurvedic approach to burnout aims to restore physiological and emotional balance through personalised strategies: adapted nutrition, daily routines, emotional regulation, and traditional herbs.
Are there any side effects?
In practice, gentle to moderate traditional tools are used, avoiding the severe adverse effects often associated with invasive treatments or synthetic medication.
However, even gentle approaches can cause unwanted effects if poorly adapted. For example, recommending a vigorous massage during intense stress could significantly worsen the condition.
The limits of “natural” remedies
Because Ayurvedic products are minimally processed and non-synthetic, they are often perceived as safer than pharmaceuticals. While understandable, this is not always accurate. Traditional remedies are not risk-free and may have negative effects, especially when ill-sourced, when interacting with other medications, or when taken in high doses.
Safety commitment at ReViva
- Your practitioner strictly follows the principle of “do no harm” and carefully evaluates your constitution, medical history, treatments, and sensitivities. Each recommendation is tailored to your condition, the season, and climate to ensure both effectiveness and comfort.
- Products used during bodywork sessions are sourced from certified French importers or local organic producers, ensuring full traceability and consistent quality — so you can trust what goes on your body.
- You are also encouraged to follow your doctor’s advice at all times.
I already have a healthy lifestyle — can this still benefit me?
Ayurveda helps tailor your diet and lifestyle to your unique constitution rather than to a theoretical standard.
Even a “statistically perfect” diet may not suit your individual metabolism, digestion, the season, or your lifestyle.
Ayurveda provides personalised tools and guidance based on your constitution and personal history, supporting long-term physical and emotional balance.
Is this right for me?
Is this support suitable for my level of fatigue?
Yes — support is designed to adapt to your current state, even in cases of significant fatigue.
There is no need to “have energy” to begin. When fatigue is already present, the aim is to move forward gradually with simple, realistic adjustments.
In practice:
- the pace is adapted to your capacity
- recommendations remain focused and limited
- the aim is to support recovery, not add pressure
What if I am sceptical?
You do not need to believe in anything for this to be useful. Ayurveda is used here as a practical framework you can experiment with.
The approach is simple and pragmatic:
- clear explanations
- practical recommendations
- no obligation to continue
You can start with a short session, ask your questions, and see by yourself if the approach makes sense for you.
Do I need to wait until I feel unwell?
No — and often the opposite is more helpful.
Ayurveda emphasises prevention by recognising early signs: fatigue, poor sleep, irritability, digestive issues, reduced concentration.
Early intervention helps:
- prevent worsening
- restore balance more quickly
- establish lasting habits
That said, it’s never too late to start. Even if exhaustion is already present, the aim is to progressively rebuild energy and stability.
Whether you are at the prevention stage or in a recovery phase, the starting point is the same: your current situation.
What if I have no time or an unpredictable schedule?
This is a common reality — particularly in emergency or field contexts.
The support can adapt to an irregular rhythm (online consultations, shorter formats, progressive adjustments). However, it is not a “no-effort” solution.
Even when the recommendations are simple, they require:
- a minimum level of mental availability
- a certain degree of consistency
- and your active involvement in the process
The aim is not to add an extra constraint, but to offer realistic adjustments within your context that you can test and integrate progressively.
If your schedule is highly unstable, we will specifically look to identify the smallest possible lever — the one that can have an impact without overwhelming you.
This is therefore neither a rigid programme nor a passive solution, but a progressive process, adapted to your constraints and moving at your pace.
Process & results
How long does it take to feel results?
This depends on your starting situation, how long the imbalance has been present, and your lifestyle.
Some people notice effects from the very first session — for example:
- improved sleep
- better digestion
- a sense of release
- greater mental clarity
Other changes take more time, especially when fatigue or stress have been present for a long period.
The approach does not aim for a quick, short-term effect, but for gradual and lasting improvement. Initial changes often serve as a foundation for building more sustainable balance.
How many sessions are necessary?
The number of sessions varies depending on your situation, your goals, and your availability.
Some issues can be addressed in just a few sessions, while others — particularly those related to chronic stress or exhaustion — require a more progressive approach.
This is always clarified together:
- based on your current state
- what you wish to put in place
- and what is realistic for you
For a more detailed overview depending on the format (consultations or bodywork), you can refer to the dedicated pages.
What should I expect during a session?
Each session generally includes a time for discussion, followed — depending on the format — by recommendations or bodywork.
The framework is simple and structured:
- you are welcomed as you are
- your needs and priorities are clarified
- concrete adjustments are proposed
The aim is not to change everything at once, but to:
- better understand what you are going through
- identify realistic levers
- move forward progressively
Depending on the type of session chosen, this may include only discussion (consultation), bodywork, or a combination of both.
The exact structure depends on the format — you can find details on the “consultations”, “massages”, and “immersions” pages.
What results can I expect from Ayurvedic support with ReViva?
Results vary depending on your starting point, your lifestyle, and how long the imbalances have been present. The approach focuses on gradual but deep changes, working on the body’s regulatory systems rather than isolated symptoms.
Commonly reported benefits include:
- improved digestion (bloating, heaviness, digestive discomfort)
- reduced symptoms related to chronic stress (nervous fatigue, tension, mental overload)
- deeper, more restorative sleep
- reduced fluctuations in energy throughout the day
- improved resilience during periods of physical or emotional strain
- easing of recurring sensitivities linked to underlying imbalances (skin, respiratory, inflammatory discomfort, etc.)
Over time, many people also develop a more refined understanding of how they function, and an increased ability to:
- identify what creates imbalance before symptoms appear
- adjust their lifestyle more independently
- stabilise their overall state rather than managing repeated episodes of exhaustion or discomfort
Each programme is therefore both a process of regulation and a learning experience, with the aim of helping you become more autonomous in managing your health on a daily basis.
The goal is not only to improve isolated symptoms, but to build greater long-term resilience.
Booking & practical aspects
Which format should I choose to start off?
It is not necessary to know in advance which format is “the right one”. The choice mainly depends on your current situation, your energy levels, and what you are looking for first.
In general:
- If you have a very specific, one-off question: a targeted consultation allows you to quickly assess the situation and receive concrete guidance.
- If you feel the need to release physical tension occasionally, a massage can be a good entry point. A guided immersion is also possible if you wish to both have a consultation and receive bodywork.
- If you want to understand your situation more globally (fatigue, stress, ongoing imbalances) and lay the foundations for ongoing support (consultations or treatments): a foundational assessment is more appropriate.
- If you are hesitating between several options: starting with an initial consultation is often the simplest way to clarify the next steps.
What is the cost of a consultation?
Please refer to the booking page or the service pricing page. I try to find a balance between accessibility and fair pricing: some services operate on a pick-your-price basis, while others have fixed prices or are quoted individually.
Are Ayurvedic consultations or bodywork sessions reimbursed?
This depends on your country of residence and your health insurance.
Below is a non-exhaustive list of providers in France that may offer reimbursement. These providers may reimburse “Ayurveda” directly, or classify it under naturopathy (Ayurvedic naturopathy).
In France: ASETYS, SwissLife, Miltis, Apicil, Apivia, Smatis.
Why do I need a full assessment before accessing follow-up or bodywork sessions?
Traditional complementary approaches such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani-Tibb, traditional Greek medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine are based on a biocharacteristics understanding of health. They assess qualitatively the physiological state of the individual and the external influences affecting it.
An initial consultation allows for the establishment of an individualised profile of your constitution, as well as identifying the habits and external factors influencing your current state of health.
This foundational assessment is essential to guide any follow-up. Without it, the support would lack coherence and effectiveness.
